Hi
I have a Mk 1 Sceptre with a 1725cc engine fitted which I've owned for the last 10 years.
Filled it up this morning and took it for a run, (it hasn't been used much since last summer). Got on the motorway up to 65 and all was well until I could feel a gradual steady loss of power. Managed to limp home and took a look under the bonnet. On my car the fuel line is plastic and transparent. Straight away I could see that there were slugs of air coming down the line into the fuel pump. These slugs are as long as 1"
I cannot see any fuel leaking anywhere but air is getting into the system somewhere between the tank and the pump. Any ideas before I start dismantling things?
Best regards
Nige

Re: Air in Fuel
i would take the fuel line from carb and crank some fuel into a jar to make sure its not water, normaly fuel leaks before sucking air but i may be wrong hope this helps rich.

Re: Air in Fuel
I would check the union at the rear that sticks out from the tank and then carefully along the fuel line for any cracks or fractures, if there is air BEFORE the pump its sucking it in from somewhere between pump and tank. if the air is after the fuel pump then there is the possibility the pump itself is leaking and the air is being pulled in there, also check your engine oil to see if it smells of petrol at all..
I fix things!!
