What colour engine should I have?

Post by djnippa » Sun Feb 02, 2014 1:42 am

I'm having my engine reconditioned, and I've been asked what colour I'd like it.
I'd not really thought of it, so would like everyone's opinion on the matter.

Here are some choices:- WHICH ONE DO YOU PREFER, AND WHY?
There were too many choices previously posted, so I've narrowed it down to just two.

HERE'S MY CAR.

Thing is the colour's all look nice until the muck gets on it, oil road dirt etc, and its hard to clean when all the accessories have been fitted. So good old black for me.

Red, to match the Humber signage on the front grill.

I'd go for black as will hide any oil leaks and/or road dirt so your engine will look clean longer.

The muted blue for me, closest to original colour. I quite like the dark grey as well, would suit the car.

As for cleaning the oil off it, it's not a problem when everything is clean and tidy - you can get to the block fairly easily.

Ha ha, thanks for your votes so far, but clearly this is not helping.
I've had to narrow it down to just two now GREY or RED.

Hi Aubrey, I realise that, but I want to make it look like it's had something special done to it.
I'm spending a lot on that engine.
I was never keen on a black block and sump, you could never see where the oil was leaking from. Ha Ha.

I think it's going to be GREY, which fits with the car, and is not too loud.
I think it will suit the engine bay as well, subtle but stylish.

THANKS EVERYONE. JOB WELL DONE :)

It'll be done in the XHT GRAPHITE GREY from

XHT Graphite Grey.JPG
It's slightly darker than I'd wanted, but it is Extremely High Temperature paint, and not too far off the original colour.

I'm also adding a gloss over it, using VHT GLOSS from
