Its the first time ive even looked in the dizzy so could have been like it since i got it , anyway ive fitted new points / condencer and rotor arm retarded the timing a bit and its a whole lot better , Shakedown runs will now follow to see what drops off etc

One further question to confirm my suspicions, is the trim missing off of the front of the bonnet?

When I say suspicions I meant it in the context that I was 90% certain I knew the car. You have now confirmed this.
You are right about 'YA' being in Somerset, my Sceptre was 'YB' also from Somerset.
The first time I came into contact with yours was through a club member who lives in Crewkerne.
He told me that he had been approached by the son of an elderly gentleman who had given up driving and had left this car in a garage.
The son was going to sell it on for 'Banger Racing', but was persuaded to part with it for re-commissioning. This was achieved and I was approached to see if I had a spare front trim for it or knew of where to find one.
The car was on show a while back at the 'Purbeck Show' which is near Wareham and there it was sold to another person I knew at Minterne Magna as an addition to his collection.
The next time I saw it was at a garage at Crossways near Moreton for sale.
I saw it then twice on e-bay, and also in a garage in the Channel Islands.
It returned to the UK and I spotted it on e-Bay again and then lost contact with it until you accquired it.
It certainly sticks in my memory probably because of the colour, and I doubt whether there are many left in that shade of 'Blue'.

OH ERR , bit of history then , i got it from the person in Mintern , it was odviously not taxed on any of its trips to garages or Guernsey , It was moted when i got it , some of the bodges on it were quite scarry for example the brake light switch had failed so they were operated manually with another switch oh and the horn was run off of the brake light circuit coz the stalk switch had failed , all wired in speaker wire    who ever did this shouldnt be allowed to touch any wiring EVER again  , anyway all this is now sorted .The shell appears to have never been welded and with only a small bit of rot on one arch and some dodgy paint all seems fine . Cheers for the info .

OOPS have I divulged too much? No I don't think so really, the bodges are par for the course these days as very few people have any working knowledge of car electrics. Having said that they must rank as some of the best howlers I've heard of for a long time. I can imagine the horn going off every time you braked.
When you think a new brake light switch costs only just over £7 plus vat and takes no more than ten minutes to fit, it is certainly penny pinching to say the least.
Still I'm glad you sorted that out now.
I do know it got a new MOT when it was residing in Crewkerne, but I cannot remember the year now.
I looked at the car when it was up for sale at the garage at Crossways, and was very tempted, but the year and the fact I had seven other classic cars including a Sceptre put me off.

The horn went off twice when i was testing the brake light switch , frightened the *%"^ out of me as thats not something im used to happening , in fact thats the only reason i found out how the horn had been wired , still i shall battle on with the old girl , changed plugs , oil and filter yesterday , feels better with every thing i do.

Sorry to hear of your problems and having to move the Humber on. I know you have had one or two experiences that were to say the least interesting, but I hope this hasn't put you off owning and running a classic car.
Once up and running, these Humbers give many miles of pleasurable motoring quite cheaply. My Sceptre certainly did, and the present owner and his wife are delighted with it, having previously owned either a MK1 or MK11.
With everyone after my Supersnipe I have been threatened with immediate divorce if I ever sell it, such is its popularity.
Seeing as I prefer a quiet life I'll have to keep it now.

No problem as far as I'm concerned, you never know something might come up which will wet your whistle once again.
