As i cant find a Webasto roof to replace mine, ive taken mine off completely and im going to have a go at retrimming it myself. Considering the roof has been in place since 67, its surprisingly rot free underneath. All minor surface rust

Looks worse on the photo than it really is because ive removed all the crud, and smothered it in Kurust. Then a slight skim of filler to rub down and get it all smooth again ready for paint.
Im also treating a couple of minor rust spots that were under the rear window trim

Brown bin, - green waste
Blue bin, - recycleable waste
maroon and grey bin, - kurust, filler, metal, and spray paint

Ok quick update.
Heres the roof off the car

its a little poorly
Never done one of these before so it should be fun.......
By the way, is it me or is it really quiet on here? Most forums i frequent are chatty, full of piccies, and generally have new posts pretty much every day. Is this not the "done thing" on here? Am i flooding the place with unwanted cr*p?

Im not after comments like "oh steve you are clever" or, "steve your car is wonderful" 'cos im no restorer and there are far better cars than mine on here. I thought forums were to compare notes and generally natter about things that interest you.
Not a moan, just confused....
Anyway, the sunroof.

I know what you mean about it being quiet my other half sends hours on his Rover SD1 site & the other one we use is the viva owners one but they seen to know each other inside out and have a lot of in jokes!!!!
http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/forum/ph ... /index.php
this site is quite good for all sorts of chat another one my other half is on I only look at it for the caravan bits, but you must remember there are only a few of us secptre people out there being intimidated by the big boys and their big humbers (Giggles) did not get back in touch about our sun roof as when i saw your pictures ours looked smaller good luck with yours - I will look forward to your next pictures - should have a go at towing with our sceptre soon so will post pictures & notes to let you know how we do

Your right Steve it is quiet on here, think its picking up though. I actually forgot about this place for a bit though. I have been busy on my own forum and organising a Custom car show. our forum is at
http://www.turtlespeed.co.uk and is for classic and custom cars. Pop on and say hello. I'm going to post some more of my car as it goes on too.

Phew....

I didnt want to post and add pics and bore everyone. Im just a friendly kinda guy....
Thanks Gillberry and Mitch, i feel better now and look forward to seeing your pics and reading about towing etc. Im after a towbar for my Sceptre as i have a small trailer i use a lot, so i will be reading with interest.
I ripped apart my sunroof tonight and started marking the new vinyl. My wife is helping me to do all this as i need a patient and calm head to keep me on track

We have cut it all to size using the old roof as a template. We then glued the first piece on the font panel and its smooth and bubble free. Got to figure the rest out now

Doesnt look too dificult.
The only part im dreading is getting the roof back on and finding the size is wrong and it wont close

.
Ive put so much work and effort into this car im gonna be seriously peeved if i cant keep it. Its no show car but i love it.

Met giggles o/h and had a good look at their gorgeous humber. I offered him a hundred quid for it....anyone know a good dentist?
Lovely car, and the colours really set it off well.
I only saw two other sceptres at manningtree today. A mk1 and a mk3, so my mk2 made one of each

Some lovely cars there today though, made me realise what a second rate piece of cr*p i own....

You'll have to pop over one day to see what is happening in Mike's garage. (well it's a rotten old shed really)
