Hi folks,
I wonder if some one out there with a humber sceptre mk1 might be able to do me a favour and measure out the actual position of where there wing mounted mirrors are positioned?

My father inlaw has a couple of wing mounted mirrors but there is no holes drilled in the wings for them yet.
Cheers Charlie

I'd leave them off, as I think they were an optional extra when they were first sold in 1963.
If you check all these photos, you will see that everyone is in a different position or a different style.

I would recommend you put them on the side of the doors or as close to the driver as possible on the wings (like the 3rd car in the photos below), otherwise you won't be able to see anything out of them.

As you can see from the top two these pictures - no mirrors were fitted, and these are both early 1963 versions.
The bottom picture is the position I would recommend if you really want to fit them, but I'd just put quarter light mirrors on like in the top picture.

I would fully recommend leaving them off, and putting on round or rectangular quarter light mirrors instead from here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320421462671? ... EBIDX%3AIT
I have round ones on mine now. I used to have rectangular, but found the round ones have better vision, and I use them constantly in the busy traffic of London.

How they looked on my car.

If you do decide to buy quarter light mirrors you will need to get the clip ground down, so it's a bit thinner, otherwise it doesn't quite fit into the window.

I would also add a larger £7.99 panoramic clip on interior mirror from http://www.conrad-electronic.co.uk/ce/e ... tas-Convex
This is one of my favourite additions to my car. It gives a greater all round vision, and alleviates the constant need for cranking your neck round. I love it.

Hi there, I know what you mean about the mirrors being in different positions, that was my thoughts about the extras.
The car already has a door mounted mirror, bug my father inlaw is not happy with it, but if will talk to him about them before doing anything drastic like drilling the wings as it's a shame to mark it.

Thanks for the pics and advice.

If he insists on having them, put them on the doors like these two.

I know what your saying, but he is quite keen to have them fitted so think i will have to bite the bullet and fit them! He already has one fitted on the door as well.
