I need some help. I have an engine that came out of something Rootes. I believe it to be a 1725 but can't confirm. Can you help ID this stranger? I want to overhaul the engine. I'm also interested in what vehicle it came out of.
B051010075 BH LSX I'm not certain of the 'H'; it appears to look more like two '//' rather than an 'H', like: B051010075 B// LSX
Thanks for any and all help.

I don't have the head so I don't know if it had the alloy head or the cast iron head.
Some casting information on the block: Engine ID plate at oil filter base: B051010075 LSX
All on the 'intake' side of the block
upper right: letter 'H'
upper right: '1724'
lower right: '1981100H'
stamped tag fixed to block lower right: '9-1-67' looks to be date of casting.
It is a (5) five main bearing engine. The 'diamond' symbol found on the Alpine block is not present on this block. There were no discerning markings on the crank.
Thanks for helping.

5 main bearing means its probably a 1725
does the crankshaft pulley have a rubber damper integrated in it? if so its probably a alloy headed motor as these werent fitted to cast iron head motors
without you having the head I cant really tell you much more than this?
flat top pistons would make it either a holbay (VERY DESIRABLE)1725 alloy head motor, or a 1600 as these used flat tops too in high compression form.
would need to get my book out to tell you the strokes of the motors which would help you identify it....
