Hi there,

My name is Dan I am 42 and I work as a sales manager at a Ford dealer in Worcestershire, I have recently purchased a 1964 Mk1 Humber Sceptre
in Goodwood Green metallic.

I bought the car off a customer with the intention to restore it, the reason I bought it was my parents had one when they got married,
unfortuantely a bin lorry crashed into theirs and wrote it off, the idea is to fix this car up and give to my mom and Dad.

The biggest problem I am having is getting parts, I have found Sarah and Phil at Speedy Spares really helpful, but I am starting to realise that certain parts are pretty none existant, most of my friends have Mini's and land rovers and they can get everything!

The issue is the previous owner who had owned it 53 years had just been keeping it going so unfortunately there has been
some bad repairs done to it over the years.

One of the things he did was replace the engine with a 1592cc Hillman Super Minx engine, the other is to remove the servo and bypass it.

I need help getting the engine back to Humber Sceptre spec, I know it has a different compression ratio and firing order but wondered
what else was diffent and ultimately is it possible to do so.

I have bought the following parts
Alloy cylinder head
solex Carb
alloy inlet manifold
alloy rocker cover
original air filter

I am told I also need a camshaft as the firing order is different, does anyone know what else I might need or need to replace?
The engine is the 1592cc version and I will be removing it shortly to start a rebuild, it has hurendous oil leaks!

Also does anyone have a servo or know where I might get one?

Sorry to ask such a lot as my first post but rest assured I will try to contribute as much as I can.

Best regards, Dan :P

Hi
In the Board Index at the bottom there is a very useful list of suppliers.

Hi there, thanks for that, I've managed to find a servo along with lots of other parts at alpine West Midlands, speedy spares sorted me a camshaft too :P

I'm still on the look out for bits but it's getting easier
