had a bulb go out on myn on the way home from work on the dashboard...
simple job i thought... just pop them big black screws out and lift the dash bit out pop the bulb holders and put new bulb in...
turns out whoever had stripped the car before when it got its "resto" had only put the nuts on the brackets lightly enough to hold the dash in place...
thus followed a 2 hour struggle to get the brackets back into place to get the screws in before bolting the whole dash component (speedo-tacho) back into place..
only to find i have pulled the red white wire from the loom and now no longer have any dash lights at all..
another hour later all is well...
so moral of the story is. if you got a dash bulb gone just undo the two bolts to release the dash, its a lot quicker and easier !!
(did you know there is a light above the ignition switch/light switch/wiper switch on a mk2?. . .have a look next time your in there theres a little blue plastic window and behind that big plastic black button between the middle two dials is a bulb holder)
I didn't even realise it was there but it makes a big difference at night having it working
