hi mate,
the weber on Myn lookslike a cortina one, its all down to the actual jets inside the carb as to how nicely it will run.
mine has a tiny flatspot when you first push the throttle but I put this down to the fact I bought it off ebay and who knows how long it had been sitting (only just put it on as the solex's economy was getting scary)

I put a 28/36 Webber on my Mk2,had it re-coned first, but i reccon i could have bought a new one seeing the re-con cost £100+.Cant remember the firm, but the bloke said they had them in stock.
Had to turn the thottle link on the carb around if i remember correctly. And had to pull the choke cable back sideways to get tension on it,to allow it to work.Thing is,i dont use choke to get it going with this Webber. I find by pumping the pedal down slowly a few times, this gets it firing up,then i use use the choke to keep it ticking over until warm.

Thanks everyone for you feedback.
I contacted weber and they advised me to buy a 32/36 DGV carb. So I have bought one new (original) from the USA for £140 inc air filter and postage!
I think the alterations rusty nuts describes will be the same for this carb.
I may be back soon asking for more help!
