My alternator warning light is always on, and I think it's the warning light simulator that is at fault. Has anybody found a modern replacement for this part, or know where to get hold of one? Cheers, Steve.

not that ive heard of.. i got the opposite problem in that my car has NO alternator light..
I just use the gauge to see if shes charging or not..if yours is charging why not just pop the bulb out
to save it draining the battery?

Steve, if you require a replacement 'Warning Light Control' type 3AW give someone like 'Speedy Spares' a ring, or a good Auto Electrical Factors.
There is no known modern replacement that I know of.
You can bench test these units to see if they have failed.
The only way to modernise is to replace the alternator with a more up to date version which has all the control circuitry built into it.
The result is there will be less wiring to cause problems and after a small wiring change only a couple or so wires come from the back of the alternator.

Yes, I may fit an 18ACR at some point. I'll take the bulb out for now, I've found the part online, and there's no change from 50 quid!
