Question about the drain on the Inlet manifold

We've got a bit of a problem with a couple of manifolds and one of them has a knackred thread on the fuel drain. Would it be safe to block this off? or would it cause the engine to flood?

Mines blocked off,when i asked a garage bloke to tune up my webber.He put a piece of rubber tubing over the drain pipe,then screwed a small bolt in the open end.I think it was effecting the running,not sure mind you,maybe air getting in or something.
I remember sometimes when the engine was shut off,petrol would run out the pipe.This used to give me scare as it was very close to the exhaust pipe.Blocking it off hasn't effected the running of the car.

Good, ours did worse. It pee'd out onto the exhaust and Im very thankful that it didnt catch flame. As it stands the threads got to be re-cut before I can block it.

I would be surprised if it caused the motor to flood unless you was really unlucky...
block it off mate........

My dads done it today (real handy being the child of an engineer). Just got to clean the manifold up and refit the carbs which Im glad are virtually fine after seeing prices for them. Hopefully its just the welding and the tyres now that are going to be a financial kick in the nuts.

looking forward to the summer when hopefully some of us can meet up for some rootes crooosin
