the other night I went out in the car after finishing refitting the headgasket and I got about 3 miles from home and suddenly I felt a misfire which promptly became non running and there I was stuck at the top of a B***y great hill with a dead sceptre.. I managed to get her off the road onto the verge and tried to get her restarted but oh no.. having stood for 2 1/2 months the battery wasnt having any of it and I was stuffed.. reached for phone to call wifey to come to rescue and found phone was still at home...
walked home, got there frozen to the core and quite mad, visualising the cars shooting past Myn sat in the dark on the side of the road brrrrrrrr..
Got wife and car and battery an jumpy leads and headed back to Myn, still undamaged popped bonnet and no amount o ftrying could get a spark, if I bridged the points with screwdriver I got sparks a plenty at the king lead so it had to be dirty points, popped them out and tried to clean them with what we had to hand but to no avail.. still no spark..
suddenly a white mercedes van comes to a halt, and a chap with a beard leaps out "its a humber sceptre! ive got one of them " produces by magic from his van a points file.. 2 minutes later we are running sweet as a nut.
I never even got your name... all I know is you were up here from gatwick rewiring a classic motorbike as that is what you do for a living, if you are reading this I thank you for taking the time to stop and rescue a scruff in need
all the best
