Hi can I ask, how much does it cost to run one of these? Is your car in running condition? Also how much are you selling for? I've fallen in love with the humber sceptre after seeing one at a car show and i'm thinking of buying one :D I'm only 22 but i LOVE classic cars and i would love to buy one, i just need to know what i'm letting myself in for :) I don't mind doing some repairs myself but i'll need to look for a guide of how to look after a car like this, any advice would be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Dave

not wanting to rain on your parade, but two people of your age group that hav tried to buy my car have fallen foul of insurance companies getting ridiculous quotes (one was 5k) due to not being able to get classic insurance, might ber worth checking before you go buying...

as to running costs, mine does between 20 -25 to the gallon (bit more on a run) spares wise ive not had to do very much to it in the 3 years ive been running it, brake pads were about 9 quid. oil and filter is no more than a standard car. Have found original air filters are hard to come by so I run ford airbox on my weber now as it makes filters about 4 quid each and off the shelf !!

in my opinion the humber sceptre is one of the most modern feeling classics to drive I have owned, it is capable of easily pacing modern traffic, it has a decent heater, the lights are excellent, ok the steering is heavy because it has no power steering but its brakes are easily as good as the wifes 405. NOthing is complicated on them to fix, the electrical system is as simple as it could be with just two fuses, the tappets are easily done, everything is extremely accessible under the bonnet and there isnt much I dread doing on it (even done a headgasket and it took a weekend (not counting the time head was away for skimming). I cant vouch for every humber out there and mine will now bite me for saying this but they are extremely reliable.
I fix things!!
