Hi there, I have just brought a Gazelle and have a list of parts that I need and could do with some general advise from the more experienced in the Roots world:
Items Needed are as follows:
N/S & O/S Sills
Bonnet (the one I have does not sit right and is a bit rusty)
Boot (Current one very rusty)
Front Grill
Exhaust
Some Seat belts (I know they dont need them but I have a 2 yesr old and 4 year old so I must put seat belts in)
Ok the advise:
I have taken all the interior wood out and am currently sanding it all down does it need to be Waxed/ Stained or Varnished?
Please let me know if you can help with any of these,Thanks
Kayleigh

Hi
Hadrian Group can supply replacement sill panels (aftermarket repair items not originals) but you can't order direct - you need to go to a local motor factor or body panel shop and they will order them for you. To see the parts go to Hadrians website at
http://www.carpanels.co.uk and search under Hillman Minx (
NOT Super Minx!) The series Minx has the same basic shell as your Gazelle so the Minx sills should fit.
For your exhaust parts got to
http://www.speedyspares.co.uk and again look under parts for Hillman Minx - Speedy spares should be able to confirm which of the Minx exhaust parts will fit your Gazelle - most parts are the same but there were some minor differences.
For the grille, bonnet and bootlid then finding secondhand items is probably the only way -
http://www.collectorscarparts-heathrow.co.uk did have quite a few old Rootes panels so they are worth a try.
For the interior wood I would use 5 or 6 coats of clear lacquer lightly sanded between coats. Incidently, go easy on the sanding as the parts are not solid wood, only a thin veneer.
Have fun and how about posting up some pics of your car and the work in progress?

Thank you so much for your help Im going to have a look now,
I will post some pictures she is in quite good condition really, will never be a show car unfortuatly but a good little run around.
Thanks again I was starting to get a bit worried. and for the advise about the wood, I would have sanded too far without knowing that and would have only done one coat proberly, so thank you so much I want to try and make it look as nice as possible
