can someone with a tape measure please measure the length of the seatbelts in their car please???
I need the total length of the bit that goes form top to bottom and across... and the length of the bit with the buckle on.
It looks like i am going to have to get some made after my ebay seatbelts turned out no good at all...

I fitted a set of inertia belts in my Mk1 Sceptre that were donated from a workmates Citroen Panel Van (a T' Plate not sure what model) that he was breaking. They were free, so I figured I'd give 'em a go !! I had to modify the mounts for the inertia reel mount as it was a horizontal mount T-piece, so I bent the bottom of the T & put a 90 deg bend on it & it mounted fine to the Sceptre floor mount. If I have a niggle about them, the buckle mount section on the centre tunnel could do with being a bit longer....the belt fits kinda snug across your waist to enable it to buckle in !!

Hi, Nick working on my Sceptre tomorrow [Sun] will have a measure and let you know. About 12 years ago now I had some brand new inertia reel belts fitted by a company in London, [sorry can't remember what they're called offhand] in the rear of the car with aircraft style buckles as these were the closest they could get to original style buckles. I had them fitted when my 1st daughter was still a toddler for safety. They did a really good job and were very busy at the time fitting belts to minibuses for schoolkids as well, but still managed to do the job in a day. The belts were custom made for the car so they cost over £100! but worth it just for safetys sake! I think they are located in Stanmore, I'll try and look out the receipt which will have their phone number and address on it. Also they fitted a lap belt, you can choose the colour of the webbing to match your upholstery. They can also refurbish old belts but I don't know how much that would cost. Of course you can also have them make up the new belts and fit them yourself to save money, although I would think in terms of safety it's best to get them fitted proffessionally. I don't know if you've ever had the misfortune to be in an accident, but I know a friend and I wouldn't be here or would have been very seriously injured if it weren't for the seatbelts I had in my 1st car, a mk2 Sceptre which aquaplaned and rolled upside down in a ditch. We both escaped without a scratch! Shame the poor old Sceptre didn't! Still the strength of the old girl was also what saved us I think, which is what encouraged me to buy the Sceptre I have now. Hope this info helps all the best.
Gary

Hi, Nick I measured the belt as promised. 9'3"for the main belt[lap and diagonal] this is slightly over as I couldn't get an exact length. And then around 2ft for the transmisson tunnel belt. Although if you're using a "stalk" as most modern cars have for this part you can ignore that measurement.
Good Luck! Gary.

my local testing station are gonna get bugged off with me before long...
could see the stalks would be at least 2ft as thats the one piece I do have... and its about 500mm....

Yeah I thought 9'3" was a hell of a length too! but then I guess you have to allow for the belt coming about 2 or 3 foot from the floor of the car before it even reaches your shoulder then diagonally across your body clipping into the buckle on short belt or stalk then across your lap and back to the floor again, it soon adds up!
Gary. PS Mark [my nephew] and me will try and weigh/measure up the steering wheel and column for you, this coming weekend.
