Nick, I would be very surprised if your indicators don't self cancel, especially being the Sceptre. It sounds as if there is a fault somewhere.
The self cancelling mech is quite delicate and these can be broken very easily just turning the wheel .

There's also that small plastic W shaped bit at the end of the stalk, these get brittle and snap.I had to pay £20 to get one.I've had trouble with it not cancelling in the past. There's something on the column that knocks it up.

£20 for the indicator spring :o , boy is my wallet going to hurt. My Uncle told me about the self cancelling part so he might be a good person to ask.
Personally Im not too botherd about self cancelling as I used to cancel it myself in a brand new Mazda 2, just a matter of remembering its on I suppose.

Yes,i think Mk2 indicators should self cancel,i'm certain that the indicator stalk it the same as a Mk1 ,If yours has the tab on the coloum it could be bent and not touching the plastic W spring bit.Or the end of the plastic spring could be broken off.
Any way i have a spare new plastic spring if anyone needs it.
