my 64 mk1 1725 runs badly, and leaks copious amounts of petrol out the drain off on the inlet, for about 5-10 seconds after engine switched off and actually i can smell petrol when im driving it too, which i reckon is coming from the same place.
It 's on a webber at the mo, when running it idles terribly, the engine shakes all over the place. Also when i remove the lead from no.4 cylinder whilst running it doesnt make a spot of difference, although it does rev relatively ok and sounds as if it firing on all 4. Changed plug and lead and cleaned out cap?? ironic thing is i removed the rocker box lid and started it up, accidently pulled of the lead to no.4 and you could tell i had done so by the running, put cover back on rockers and tried again pulling lead off - no difference at all to engine running???? ............i dont really want to have to take the head off but maybe i will have to????????
all my mechanical expierenance is on diesels and fuel injection petrols....so i dont know shit about the carb, exxept how to take it apart and clean it!
I really need the letter 'm' for the boot and the glove box carboard inards if anybody has them and last but not least the window door rubbers, only the ones which run along the bottom of the glass,,,failing that i'll have to modify some merc 190 ones to fit as they look very similar. I am located in cheltenham, gloucestershire and dont mind travelling for good parts..
just a thought but i wonder if you could put a ford diesel 1.8 into the sceptre?? that would be a good laugh wouldnt it a tax free classsic diesel doin
