I'm in the process of a resto on my Mk1 (although the bulb seems to have popped at the light at the end of the tunnel !) So I need to give the brakes a good going over. The car is a MK1(a) Chassis Number B31021830DHSO (I mention this, because I understand that the brake parts change at a particular chassis No.)
Sceptre511 on the forum informed me that he thought the front end (discs, pads, calipers) could be fitted with MGBGT parts....although my car might be too early for this....anyone confirm ?? I started pricing stuff up at various places (including Speedy's) & one place quote £58+vat for ONE rear wheel cylinder !! Surely, with the system being Lockheed, there must be an alternative from another marque that fits ?? Rear shoes.....I know most places are approx £30 with a deposit/exchange on old parts......anybody find anything different anywhere ??

Re: Brakes !!
most agricultural places can get brake shoes relined.. paid 25 quid to have some hillman minx series V ones done once..
as to wheel cylinders, if they arent leaking just give them a clean and pop some new seals in them.. job done
