Hi all,
I'm new on here. I bought a 1972 Humber Sceptre the other day, and unfortunately the engine is seized solid on it. I've taken it to bits and done everything to try and free it up but it's having none of it.
So, I'm now in need of a new engine for it. I'd like to keep it original so it's the Rootes engine that I'm after. Has anybody got one to sell? Or know of where I can get hold of one? Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
Tom

Re: WANTED - 1725cc Engine for My Sceptre
hi mate, sadly ebay is your friend here. you could use the engien from any of the following cars as well to keep it original
sunbeam alpine
singer vogue
hillman hunter
etc there are only really two types of 1725cc engine.. one with a cast iron head and one with a alloy head, early ones can be substituted for later ones by changing over teh waterpump/engine mounts etc but to use a cast iron head motor inplace of an alloy head one is more of an issue as you need exhaust and inlet manifolds as they are a different layout. and the early engines dont lean over like yours will.. so you would need it to be more or less year specific to work
