Diaphragms, Mark 1 Sceptre

Post by KiwiKopOut » Wed Sep 03, 2008 8:47 am

Hi again,,, As I explained in an earlier posting I am rebuilding the drivers seat in my 1963 Mark 1 Sceptre.

I am informed the diaphragms are not available as new items as they have never been re-manufactured.

So can any one tell me if the diaphragms from other Rootes vehicles will fit ? e.g. Super Minx, Sunbeams etc because if they do I will start looking for good second ones and use the diaphragms from these seats.

Cheers Ken.

dont know about specific seat diaphrams but if oyu go to any agricultural shop you can get these sheets of rubber designed for horsebox ramps which are very sturdy and strong.. I used this on a seat once many years ago and it worked well
I fix things!!

HAd a similar issue with superminx seats too. I dispensed altogether with the diaphragms and put in long spring like set up from a more modern vehicle under the seat...I actually used scrap items from under a REnault Laguna seat (Hmm I hear you all say)...very little drilling required and a good result achieved...good seat height again and acceptable comfort again.
