Just bought a Humber :-)
Hi, i've recently bought a 1963 mk1 humber sceptre. It needs some work dong on it but hopefully should be a good project.
The car: Its not exaclty standard, as it has no door handles, no locks and the roof has been cut off and shortened. It also only has 2 doors and a V8 rover engine.
I'm just wondering if anyone's seen or heard of it? I found out it was featured in some custom car magazines in the 80's and had a full center press article.
I just have to work out what the engine has and what all the other parts on it came from or if they are original.
As for parts, i need an interior at some point and prob some other bits so i'll let you know as and when i find out what parts are needed for me to restore it.
Thanks.
Craig.

Sceptre special
Hi there Craig I´m Raul Rivera from Madrid, Spain congratulations for your ebay purchase... your rover v8 sceptre of course¡¡¡ , I was take a look at it on the last minutes of the bid and looks really terrific, here in Spain we have a similar conversion, a hillman super minx with two doors coupe body ( shortened) and 4.7 v8 ford engine from a tiger II, our car deliver about 230 cv and sounds like hell, I will send you some photos asap, please send me your e-mail address if you want .
I own a sceptre MKIc (1965) with 1725 five bearings engine in absolutely perfect condition, if you want any help I have a friend in France that is on current engine swap with a rover v8 engine on an alpine series V and he will be glad to help you, he is scottish, so no problem with language.
Kind regards, Raul Rivera.

scooby_doo_do,
I can give you some info on the car you have purchased.
It was originally built by Dave Holt in the early 80`s and was featured in Street Machine magazine in October 1980. When it was first built it was a metalic gold colour then it was later repainted red with graphics down the side and featured a red Draylon interior. You should find that although the roof has been radically chopped the front screen is STILL the full size original, it has just been sunk into the front bodywork. The rear wings feature Escort bubble arches and the rear lights are from a Fiat 850.
I have a spare copy of the magazine if you want it
The car was very well known and if you log onto the http://www.nsra.org.uk/index.htm you will find there a few a people who know the history of the car and can help you.
All the best Mark.

Thanks Chaps.
Well, i've had a quote for the wellding. It needs a new drivers side seal, and a new section of chassis under the passenger side. It also needs various other holes and bits doing elsewhere on the car. The chap that is doing them is also fitting a rear roll cage, new brakes and pipes and making me a new exhaust. So that'll be a fear chunk of the work getting done over the next few weeks.
Whilst it is in the garage i'm hopefully getting a auto electrician to re-wire the car as its a complete mess and nothing really works.
Had the car started for the first time on Sat and MY GOD. It sounds like a spitfire.. Absoloulty crazy sound. I love it.
