Post by LukeMk3humber » Tue Jul 02, 2013 5:41 am

Just signed up to this, I'm in desperate need to find out if anybody knows where I can get a coilover kit for my Mk3 and rear dampers. I put 2''lowering blocks and Mk2escort -2'' lowering string on her Sunday just for time being. I need to know if anyone knows what coilovers bolt straigh up to them i.e. Mk2 cortina or mk2 escort. Please help people any info you've got would be gratefull I have 2 months before MOT to find some. I'll try n upload a picture of my car later. Cheers.

I think the solution many people use on Arrows are stiffer/shorter Sierra springs at the front to suit the current strut seat (depending if you have an early or late car)- and Spax adjustable dampers at the rear in tandem with the lowering blocks. Think Spax also did replacement inserts for the front struts, but not a full coilover as such.... have a check of their website to check.

I would also get yourself over to sunbeam rapier owners club forum, lots of people lowering their Sunbeam Rapiers (same chassis as Hunter/Sceptre 3) - strongly suggest join there for good input. Cheers

Later helps I think mate, should be easier to do something with the later spring seats on the front struts. Apparently Spax do front inserts but not full struts, won;t help with ride height - need to change the springs - some kind of Sierra sport spring is the best approach. Look for Martin UMU on there, and a guy called 1922 who has huge experience, couple of good threads on what can be done.

Yeah I rang spax on my lunch break today to get prices etc, they only have stuff for the hunters... But they're basically identical. And they said about the inserts which is a bit shit. Back ones weren'tpriced to bad to be fair. I'll have a look for them aswell mate, have the lads modified the cars in the past?, I got the motor when I was 16 off my grandad I'm now 21, got it on the road last year n now leavin everything to the last minute to sort out. Another question... Do you know if there's a poly Bush kit for them aswell?? :/ I'll have a ganders for the Sierra springs too, the escort ones work a treat it's just that they don't stay in the cups... Say if you was to hit a pot hole or Jack it up lol

Yes, Hunters have been modified since the 70's for sure, but I think the problem is some of those aftermarket tuning bits are long since out of production.

On the polybush side, yes i think you can get those for Hunters, no probs there.
