Mk2 Lucas distributor question

Post by dhumber » Mon Nov 25, 2013 6:48 pm

Whilst working on my 1966 mk 2 Sceptre - noticed distributor damaged body
Question is can I fit another Lucas D25 which has different serial number
the one coming out is 41151A not even sure thats the right one originally
I can get a second hand D25 off ebay etc - but not the same serial number
any advice
thanks BARRY

Yes. The advance curve might be a bit different, but it shouldn't make too much of a difference, as the springs in the distributor you have probably aren't as good as when new. I would just get a new distributor, and an electronic one at that, from one of the many sellers on ebay. There is a place in St Albans that will do you one for about 30.

Thanks for the reply - Do you have a linc to the St albans suppler
also would an electronic distributor require any other upgrade - ie Coil, etc
Thanks BARRY

That's the people. They will sell you the necessary bits. I wouldn't worry too much about the weights and springs, as they have a pretty neutral advance curve which from experience, should be fine.

Cheers
