Below are the 2 plungers I have in my oil filter base. Just wondering if they are correct as I've never seen the long 1 before. The longer 1 (picture 1) is in the hole closest to the front of the car and the shorter 1 (picture 2) is in the rear hole. Both are sealed and as far as I can tell cannot be taken apart. Also when I removed both of them I got no oil out of either hole. The car had been stood for just under 48 hours upon removal. Reason I'm asking is I thought the old cartridge style filters were suppose to retain oil in them the same as the modern spin on ones. If I leave the car for 2 or 3 days she starts with a lack of oil pressure for 2 or 3 seconds and knocks until the light goes out.
Any help much appreciated.

If I recall, one plunger is for your engine oil pressure and the other is the filter bypass to allow for your oil to still service the engine if your oil filter should ever get clogged.
Nowadays, all modern spin-on filters have internal bypass and this is not needed. That's why the spin-on mounts only have one oil pressure plunger.
