I want something modified now and i dont think i could do it to the Sceptre. Ive been brain bashing about it for a while now one minute ill do it, next i just cant. So im going to sell it to someone who wants to keep it original and ill buy something like a Ford that i can modify easily. Any takers????

If you think modding a Sceptre is difficult, try modding a Mark 5 Hawk.

What gets me is the fact its had hundreds of views, stacks of watchers but no one even makes a "risky" offer :?
Mind you, i suppose 75% of the watchers are off the various forums to see if it sells.... Ive had a lot of phone calls but mainly from people up north. Why do people ask such silly questions? "is the paint immaculate?" and "does it have a lot of body roll?" :? :? Its a 40 year old car and it will always want something doing, i think some people expect a Rolls Royce for 50p
I think its a decent car for an accepted price of £900 but then its my car so i suppose im biased :)

I dont understand it. Ive had 1600 + hits, over 60 watchers and only one person has bothered putting an offer in. Ive had offers by people looking here at my home but only one on the bay. Why watch a buy now??? :? Youre either interested or youre not, its not an auction where bids are thrown in at the last minute, they are watching it for no reason whatsoever. Ive been offered a swap, and to be honest i might well take it. Its beginning to dawn on me that ebay is the worst place to sell a car. They want a perfect car with mot and tax for a hundred quid. I know damn well its not gonna sell on there, im leaving it on there to get my moneys worth of advertising
A chap on retro rides pm'd me and said ebay is full of dreamers and dealers who want something for nothing. Seems its true. Moan...rant etc etc....

I've just sold a car on said website it was a nightmare. People seem to come and view afterwards, then if its not A1 condition for a couple of hundred quid moan and threaten to take you to court.

Moan Rant, huh...

To be honest, decent Sceptres in the condition people expect of a classic, maybe like all the restored MGBs they see every day, are just not there unless one is prepared to spend a couple of grand at least.

Restoration to that 'MGB' level is not really an option either because of lack of trim, fittings and interest in the marque from specialists.

For Sceptres, you need a big wad of cash to buy the best you can, probably from a dealer or private ad. These only come up once in a blue moon. Ebay is not really the answer. It is a false economy.

Bizarre that people are watching it on buy it now - perhaps you will get some offers when that expires? Could you finish the roof of. Maybe that would make it more desirable?
