Mk1 petrol tank sending unit ohms

Post by rhythmrider » Wed Feb 11, 2015 8:10 pm

My petrol level tank sending unit is rusted beyond recognition.
Does anyone know the specifications of the range of ohms from full to empty it's supposed to be?

If I know the range, I can retro fit something.

e.g. 33-330 ohms, 0-95 ohms, etc.

This is for a MK1 with the rare petrol tank behind the back seat. only made in 1961.

I was hoping someone might have a workshop manual with this information.

Thanks!
Dana

I tested the gauge and it requires a sending unit with the (long standing )standard for the time of 240-33 ohms.
I believe MKII - MKIV to be the same.

So that means that if you need to buy a replacement for your rusted out sending unit,
there are lots of after market units that will work very well for inexpensive prices.
