Sceptre mk 1 / 2 overdrive stork problem. Help.

Hi , i have a 1964 seceptre with the overdrive stork or stick attached on the drivers parcel shelf ! It should be on the stearing wheal coloum. I had tried attaching it but it kept blowing the fuse . The stork n switch were new and work fine . Question ....on original esembling was there a rubber shield / guard , as a first fixing to the metal stearing coloum ? I think the unit blows the fuse when switched as the units siting against metal.

There is nothing I can see in the workshop manual mentioning one. I should mention the manual is for a Mk2.

Thanks for the quick reply . I dont think there was any difference to the coloum set up in the mk 1 and 2 . Very confused now , overdrive works fine but once set up on the coloum the fuse goes !

Hi Peter A tricky little problem you have there but I would get the wiring checked
the stalk should not be live I cant check mine as mine is MK2 auto best of luck Tony
