I have seen replica VIN number plates available for sale for other Hillmans, but not the Super Minx.
My vin plate is very badly rusted.
Does anyone know where I can get a "new" blank plate that I can buy and restamp with my car's vin?
and/or, does anyone have a vin plate in excellent condition of with they could send me a high quality picture?
Mine is too rusted to use as a template for a replica to be made.

Perry, going by the plate on my convertible it is the one with the corner off. However as the chassis plate on my car states 'Hillman Motor Car Co Ltd Coventry, England' I don't think even the one with the corner off is correct for our cars because that states 'Sunbeam Talbot Ltd' which came along later.

Roger, Is your chassis plate in good enough condition that you could take a picture of it for me?
(I don't care if you want to blank out any numbers in the picture if you don't want it publicly known.)
But is your convertible a MKI?

Hi Dana,
Sorry but I've probably misled you, when I said 'chassis plate' I meant the larger aluminium plate mounted to the left of the VIN plate. My VIN plate is in the same state as yours. Incidentally my convertible is a MKII.

Re: Replacement VIN number plate for MKI
Ah, that explains it. Yes, some people call the "vin plate" the chassis plate.
I don't really want an aluminum vin plate.
I do want an original steel one.
If enough people are interested, I can have some steel plates made up, but I need a picture of a good one to use as a template.
(I suppose I could have them made out of "stainless steel" so they would not rust. But it would cost more.)
Howe much do you think people would be willing to pay for an original type vin plate instead of an aluminum one?
