Mk1 Sceptre :- Radials or not ?
Opinions please :- I've had differing points of view as to whether or not to change my v.good crossplys (recently passed MOT) over to Radials.
Anyone got any good or bad experiences either way ?? & if Radials to be fitted, what sort of profile/size so they don't look "lost" in the arches.

tyres
When i had the original wheels i found Goodyears or bridgestones gripped the best, and 165,82,13 will be the size you need .You can use 155s but the will be slightly smaller in diameter and the car will rev more than it would with 165s.
Hope that helps

After biging up North hants tryes i have to moan a bit now. When the white walls arrive they have a protective film of some type on the white wall bit.
You clean this off with just warm soapy water and a nail brush. One came up great, the other has the black part of the tyre bleeding into whats left of the white wall.Thing is,you cant tell until you start cleaning them up.So the to be fair the firm probably didn't notice.
Anyhow i'v sent them an e-mail asking if they will replace it,let you know what happens.

they'll be fine in the dry, nice and predictable handling. Be careful in the wet though....rusty nuts wrote:Me too, always had radials on mine.I'v put cross plys on my Jowett Javelin, they look like bloody pram tyres from the 50's :D But it does look correct with them on,just got to remember on those bends!

Do what you feel is best what you want to do with the car.
Our Snipe runs on crossplies and looks sweet on them. Shame we couldn't have got it to the Nats then you'd have seen it in the flesh so to speak. However Mike wants to get whitewall radials for the fairlane, as he says he'd be happier as it's a more powerfull engine being the V8 etc.....
We've been out in the wet & snow with the Snipe. Was quite interesting!
