WHAT A RESULT

Post by BeJay » Tue Apr 08, 2008 12:49 pm

Hi Guys,
.....had a day off work last week so I thought I'd have a proper look at the old Sceptre in the garage instead of just walking round it as usual, first look was at the tax disc in the window, it ran out in June 05   !!!!! (is it really that long since I used it ???) anyway as summer is coming ?? I decide to book it in for an M.O.T. just to see where we were at, took it in Saturday morning and it passed straight off, no problems at all, :D :D (mind you I did have to pinch the battery off the Volvo to fire her up) other than that all I did was give her a general check over and make sure I drove her the long way round to the test station with my left foot feathering the brakes (to polish most of the rust deposits off the discs) by 11.00am she was legal for the road again with a brand new tax disc in the window,  (I've always kept her insured) had a steady 30 mile run around after dinner and she ran as sweet as a nut, so she'll be getting her first proper run out in about three years on 20th of this month (this years Drive it Day) for the Stilton Cheese Classic Car Run, here's the link in case any of you are local enough and fancy it http://www.fbhvc.co.uk/assetts/THE%20ST ... %20KAM.doc
it's open to all classics, I'm really looking forward to it now and hope I'll get out to a few more shows/runs etc this year as I've been too interested in playing offroad with the 4x4s this last couple of years.

..................cheers. Jack.

jack !!

thats fantastic, its always a buzz when an old girl gets a ticket...
I recently bought a 1970 (J reg) honda PC50 a friend had in his garage, it had been there as long as I could remember and at least since 1990 as far as he could remember, flushed out the carb and she sprang into life with some fresh juice.

Booked it in for a mot and it sailed it, advisory on tyres beginning to perish was all I got...

just trying to get it re-registered now as DVLA dont seem to be playing ball with the no-plate
I fix things!!

Hi Nick,
......you're right it was a great feeeling when she sailed through the M.O.T. without even an advisory, but it's an even better one when you can walk into the Post Office, and walk out again with a 12 month road tax disc without having to part with a couple of hundred quid. :D :D :D

.............cheers, Jack.

p.s. hope you get the Honda sorted OK.
