SCEPTRE MK 1 WHEEL COLOUR

Post by 1952bry » Fri Jul 04, 2008 6:23 pm

WONDER IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME. I AM HAVING MY GOLD '65 SCEPTRE RESTORED(NEARLY THERE!). CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT COLOUR THE WHEELS WERE? I AM PRETTY SURE THAT THE OUTER PART OF THE WHEELS WERE OFF WHITE/CREAM. MY RESTORER WANTS TO GET IT RIGHT, AND THINKS THE INNER PART, BEHIND THE HUB CAPS WAS SILVER.
ANY COMMENTS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

As far as i know Rootes used Foam Grey for wheels , they certainly did on all Imps , very light almost white type of grey , i think the paint code is 8 .could be wrong for Sceptres though but deffo on Imps , colour dissapeared as a main body colour around 65 , but continued on wheels thereafter.

The paint I had made up for my wheels was Talbot 'Foaming White', and was used until way into the seventies.
I asked this question way back in an early post hence the answer to it.
The colour looks like a creamy off-white and although it referred to as Grey it certainly looks nothing like it.

Ive never known them painted in more than one colour from the factory , ive checked the code and its deffo 8 . so asking for talbot or rootes or chrysler " 8 "should get you the right colour.

Rootes only painted the outside (viewing) of the wheel in Foam White, the insides were black as delivered from the wheel supplier.
I found this out when I stripped my wheels to re-do them.
