Mk1 Sceptre Widscreen Seal

Post by Bruce » Mon Nov 03, 2008 2:03 am

Hi Everyone. I have had to remove the windscreen from my Mk 1 to repair a small rust hole that was created by a rusted dressing strip clip. I would prefer to replace the original rubber seal as the one removed is not too good at all. Can anyone put me onto a possible source where I may be able to secure one. The original part I have is No: 2225292
A rubber supplier here told me to-day that he had heard of a company in the UK called C.O.H. Barnes, who are supposedly starting to reproduce the original pattern screen seals. Does anyone know of this company? and if so could somebody give me a contact address, phone number or e.mail address. I can't seem to locate them on Google search. There are other alternative rubber seals available however, they are not compatible to allow you to refit the original stainless steel dressing strips around the screen, and that is why I prefer to be able to secure the original type of extrusion if I can. A good second hand one could also be of help, but it must be in very good condition. Finally, if I am successful in obtaining the correct rubber, I will also require at least 5 new dressing retaining clips, Part No: 2226324. Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Bruce, the name of the company is not C.O.H. Barnes but C.O..H Baines Ltd. I can remember this company from thirty plus years ago when I was a designer in the aviation business and I used to use their products.
If you google 'cohbaines' you should get their contact details and website. They are situated in Tunbridge Wells, Kent in the UK.
If you don't strike lucky, come back to the site and I will get all the details for you.
Regards
John
