how common? broken horn ring mk2 sceptre
Well what can I say, amongst Myns other list of faults which I am slowly ploughing through
the fact I have had no horn for almost my entire ownership has also been something now
thrust to the top of the list by impending MOT inspection...
the rim had snapped where the arms joined the base and although I had all the parts I could find no way of persuading
them to join company again... even trying to smelt them back together under a shielding gas didnt work as it was too brittle..
I then purchased a mk1 wheen and ring from a chap who was breaking a mk1 and although the wheel had been left in the sun (as had the car for many years)
the ring was in good nick, but the mk1 ring is different as it has a larger boss and no hole through the middle as the mk1 column doesnt adjust.
so... I cut the milddle out of the mk1 ring and then trimmed the sides of the remaining part so that it was effectively one long straight arm across the middle between the sides of the ring and fixed it to the original mk2 centre boss (after flattening it off) and hey presto... with a bit of spacing out of the copper bit I now have a working horn ring...
then followed an hour of fault tracing trying to get it to work.... the horns had a live feed... and when a live was used with a test lamp pushing the ring lit the bulb.. I eventually traced it to the purple and black wires at the bottom of the column.. must have caught them with my foot at some time and popped them out the plug..
ah well seatbelts then its time for mr MOT to do his worst...

Nope its a MK1 that lives in the Garage, The whole wheel and colum was Salvaged from my Uncles first Sceptre which was wrote off before I was born, so its no use to use really.

We checked it out, the horn ring on it is broken too but the rest of its fine. We dont know how we can weigh it for a courier quote, you can have it for £20 if your still Intrested. Thats for the wheel and the coloum.

that sounds cool...
use bathroom scales stand on em, then stand on em holding the column and do a subtract
let me know parcel size when wrapped (probably with wheel off) and weight and ill organise the collection.
you have paypal? or want chq etc

Payment you need to arrange with my Uncle, just PM or email Gary Knight. I proberly wont be at the garage until the weekend but my Uncle may be able to pop round there sooner, so he might be able to get the weight sorted for you.
