hi all,
new to this forum, i have bought myself a new project, a 1963 super minx, i rescued the car from been scrapped, the car is complete apart from its engine. i have been looking for a replacement 1725 lump, but no luck yet, was just wondering if anybody has fitted a different engine? i have a good 2.0 TR7 engine laying in the garage, which would fit, but anybody got any suggestions?

Easy upgrade in power is to fit an alloy headed engine to the Super Minx - as I am doing. You'd need to source one, but they are not that hard to come by. They were fitted to the Sceptres and Vogues and the higher spec'd Hunter variants. If you want something really poky, go for a Holbay. Plus, they go in with no modifications, look right and are not that expensive to get spares for.
Other than that, go for something a bit more modern and robust than a TR7 engine. You can get a new 2l Ford Zetec engine for about £800.
