Thermostat for 1725cc Engine

Post by Stella » Wed Jul 31, 2013 2:16 pm

I have a Rapier series V which doesn't have a listing on this forum. :o
Can anyone tell me where to find a hot climate thermostat (i.e. about a 72 deg opening) for the 1725 cc engine as we have hot conditions here in France :) :) .

Believe it or not a thermostat for a 1960's American car will fit right in.
Here is the high performance thermostat I used with a 71c opening.

Good luck,
Dana

Thermostats from the era are pretty much standard for most cars, and your local motor factor should be able to help, even in France.

Failing that, I would contact Speedy Spares. They should have one.

They send stuff all over the world.

Having said that, if you are having issues keeping the car cool, it's more likely to be in need of a new radiator than it just be thermostat related. Thermostats generally only fail and with stay open, or closed. If closed, your car will over heat very quickly as the water is not able to flow around the engine, if stuck open it won't affect the cooling. You can of course test it in a saucepan with a thermometer to see if it opens.

Cheers
