Tube to nowhere. What is it for?

As I prepare this old 1592 engine for operation. (has been sitting for 30 years.) I came a cross a steel tubing line a little larger than the size of a brake line that comes from a connection on the block directly under the exhaust manifold, but close to the pan and then come out though a hole in the front motor mount and then stops. I am sure it connected to something at one time, but I have no idea what it would be for.

Any ideas for what it is supposed to be used?
I'll try and get a picture tomorrow.

It should have a little tap like this on the end. . .



- it is for draining coolant from the block. The above pic shows taps described as being for a land Rover but may be the same as for your Rootes motor - search : 'Land Rover Coolant Drain Tap' on ebay and, as if by magic, they will appear

Now that makes sense.

Yes, the little tap must be broken off.

I'm glad I did not try to start it up with out that!
(I can just imagine the car "peeing" a lime green river as I drive down the street)

I will add that to the ever growing parts list!

Went ahead and added my own abbreviated version.
Actually plenty of room around the exhaust pipe when it's in proper position.
