My old Sceptre

Post by sceptrefirst » Sun May 04, 2008 7:14 am

Hi Folks...boringly enough, my first post is to enquire about my old sceptre
Sold it in 1988 (20yrs of weeping since!!!) to a guy called Steve near Eglington in Northern Ireland.
Green, Mark 1 musty inside and beautiful!
Reg number 8857 IL
Have been back home (now live in Kent) recently to search for and cannot find it. Steve also had a Rapier fastback rotting in his yard so I fear the worst.
Any help on how to track down the old lady would be v much appreciated
Poor Nick and his cooling/tyres...been there sooooo many times, one thing after another and we poor suckers still love the beasts!!
(Disconnected the dynamo to weld the rear 1/4 panels for the MOT in 1988 before sale, finished the welding about 10 mins before test ((as always ))and hastily drove to centre without reconnecting things. Comically a very grumpy examiner had to push my sceptre to start it so as he could evaluate the exhaust repair...and ultimately, but probably reluctantly pass it!! Must have had a sense of humour under that sour face somewhere.
I think there is a connection somewhere between our apparent ability to fix most things and our apparent inability to organise our lives!!)
Hey ho

hi mate, ive done the usual online checks such as a DVLA vehicle enquiry and a quick look on the insurance database but to no avail...
she could be languishing somewhere having missed the great log book electrification in the late 80's and I wish you good luck in finding her..
I feel the same way about my first car, a hillman minx ser5 reg CJK 329D which although ON the database has been liable for sorn/tax since 1991
I fix things!!
