Door cappings

Post by Wilko » Wed Apr 04, 2012 11:11 am

Can anyone advise the best way to refurbish wooden door cappings on a Sceptre 3? Mine are in a poor state of repair. My first thought was to remove them, sand them down and then paint with Ronseal varnish or similar, but I suspect the result might be rather disappointing. I want them to look as they would have when the car was new, which I think is a sort of polished effect but I'm not sure how that is best achieved!
Thanks.

Or, if the verdict is that they are beyond repair, perhaps someone can point me in the right direction for a source of replacements...?

You need to get them reveneered. I know of a company in High Wycombe that did this for me for my Chamois, and the results were excellent. They will look as good as, if not better than new, but at a price.
